That here in the buttcrack of Mississippi, people who keep their plants in pots refer to them as "pot plants." Not POTTED plants, mind you. "Pot Plants." The first time I heard our 60-ish receptionist say she had to bring her "pot plants" in because it was going to freeze, I think I choked, tripped, and my jaw hit the floor, all at once. Huh-what?

They're "pot plants" in the UK too. "Potted plants" sounds a bit too much like "potted shrimp" - implying a plant squished into a ramekin with an inch of melted butter on top. :)
British pot plants, indeed, eh? I still think it sounds like someone's growin' some herb when I hear that.
Hm, we've got "potted meat" here but I'm not sure what kind of meat it is. I'm not sure anyone knows what manner of meat is potted in those little cans. Potted shrimp, covered in butter, might be delish to your fan of shrimp. Neither treatment would make a plant happy, obviously.
