Here you go: 660 women died "maternal deaths" in the USA in the year 2000. Somehow this isn't news, but two deaths vaguely but not definitively related to RU-486, THAT is news.

And, good gawd: 20,000 women in Afghanistan died of maternal causes in the same year. shocking statistics.
